Tie over

Here's a cute video to tie you over until I actually update my blog. This is just this really cute thing that Ron taught Riley to do when they were babysitting Lori's niece who had really little petite diapers :)

translation...
Lori: Riley do you want popcorn? Say it
Riley: Popcorn. Baby diaper, Riley's diaper! Riley funny!

New job

I’m way behind on blogging (as usual) so I have soooo much to update on. Luckily I have time at work which will be the first thing I talk about… I got a job!! YAY!! I enjoyed being unemployed for about a month and then got really tired of feeling lazy and worthless all the time. I was looking for just a serving job, something part-timeish and easy for now but NO WHERE was hiring cuz it was during the school semester. One manager at Goodwood BBQ told me that I would for sure get a job if I came the week spring semester ends because everyone leaves for the summer. So that was my plan and I pretty much stopped actively looking.

Then my mom overheard my dad talking about finding this kid in our ward a job and how Brother Bellows in our stake was a unit director at the State Developmental Center. So mom was like what about Kiley? Genius!! So this was like the first week in March and Brother Bellows told dad that the state was on a hiring freeze at the moment but that I should go put an application in and he’d let us know when they were hiring again. So to make this part of the story short, he let us know and I came in and applied.

Now, this story also ties into my Georgia trip… So when I went in for the interview I saw that the hiring class started on the 29th. My trip to Georgia was planned for the 26th – 31st. At the end of my interview I asked about missing a few days or about the next training class that would start… There was no way I could miss training and they had no idea when the next start date would be because of all the budget cuts the state is doing. I was in a serious dilemma because I really needed a job and I really wanted this job. Again, to make this part of the story short I called dad to talk about the situation and because of his awesome standing with Delta he was able to switch my ticket so that I came back Sunday night and be able to make it to training Monday morning. My dad rocks. So anyways, I’M EMPLOYED!! And I absolutely love my job!!

The shifts here kind of suck so I decided to take the midnight shift which is 9:45pm-6:15am and I have Thursdays and Fridays off. Some days I really hate it but others I really like it cuz I have all my days open to do whatever I want. If I come home and sleep for 6 or 7 hours I still have the whole day open so it works. Plus the midnight shift is usually very slow and I’m able to get lots of homework done and movies watched. Knitting and crocheting are kind of the thing to do around here on midnights and these ladies can make the cutest things!! So I definitely plan on getting into that too. Also, I am an employee of the state so the benefits are AWESOME! I can’t wait to get them. It’ll be so nice for me and James cuz his is freaking expensive. And of course the biggest plus about this is the individuals I work with. They are so fun and so cute and everyday with them is seriously rewarding. They make me smile and laugh like crazy. I feel really blessed to have gotten this job and definitely see myself staying here for a long while.
